TOP I.T. JOBS IN THE PHILIPPINES
Graduation season is coming and
the Philippines at an annual rate produce over a million job seekers across the
country. This means that the employment rate(s) will either go up or down - We
have to wait and see on that aspect, I guess. But the real question is...Does
the country offers enough jobs that can cover all those soon to be job seekers?
Are the skills and competencies of our graduates enough to land that dream job?
Are companies ready to take on fresh graduates rather than more experienced
ones? So many questions but no one can validly provide you with the right
answer.
1. JAVA DEVELOPERS (J2EE, J2ME, Javascripts)
2. WEB DEVELOPERS/DESIGNERS (Flash, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, inDesign, HTML,etc.)
3. TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEERS
4. .NET DEVELOPERS (ASP.NET, C#, Microsoft.Net, etc.)
5. ORACLE DEVELOPERS
6. NETWORK/SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS (CCNA, CCNP, etc.)
7. Q.A. ANALYSTS/ENGINEERS (Automated and Manual Testing Tools)
8. PRODUCTION SUPPORT ENGINEERS
9. SAP FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL CONSULTANTS (Six Sigma, ITIL, Project Management Methodology, etc.)
10. GRAPHIC ARTISTS/MULTI-MEDIA CONSULTANTS (Flash, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, inDesign, HTML,etc.)
If you are unfamiliar with some
of the terminologies, then probably it was not included in your school
curriculum since Universities provide only basic I.T. related modules focusing
on Turbo Pascal, DOS, COBOL, C & C++, etc.
TIPS FOR IT GRADUATES
We advise fresh graduates of I.T.
to focus on where you think you will excel more - Coding, Development, Testing
and/or Designing. Try to get additional certifications or better yet find a
company who will be willing to provide in-house training (This means that you
will be bonded in the company, say 1-2 years contract bond).
Also, bilingual IT
professionals are becoming huge now so if you can learn Japanese, Korean, French,
Spanish or Mandarin, then that would be an added advantage on your part.
Lastly, IT Professionals are generally considered poor in communication (spoken) skills, so better start improving your English skills. This may not be as important as you think it is, but companies now are also putting into mind its importance aside from the technical skills.
